All About Me

In 2007 I started my undergraduate degree at Michigan State University.  While at MSU I was a member of the All-Girl Competitive Cheer Team for four years.  I was also the treasurer for the team for my last two years.  I graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a specialization in Actuarial Science. I also completed the  year-long teacher preparation program through MSU during the 2011-2012 school year at Troy High School.  In the fall of 2014, I decided to go back to school to get my masters degree.  I chose to go back to MSU and get a Master's of Education with a concentration in Sports Leadership and Coaching.

In 2012 I was hired by the Wayne Westland Community School District as a high school mathematics teacher at John Glenn High School and am currently still teaching there.  Over the years I have had many different opportunities and experiences with this district.  I have taught Algebra 1, Algebra Foundations (support class), Algebra 2, and Algebra 2 extended (2 year class).  I have also had the opportunity to teach math over the summer for an Upward Bound program offered at Wayne Memorial, the other high school in our district.  I have taught math to seventh graders in a summer MARS program offered at the uppper elementary/middle school.  Not only have I had many teaching experiences, but I also earned the math department chair position in the fall of 2014.

As a child I was involved in many different sports, such as gymnastics, soccer, cheerleading, track, cross country, and softball.  Since it was always a dream of mine to coach my own teams, when I graduated college I began coaching gymnastics at a club gym and cheerleading for a city recreational team.  When I was hired at John Glenn to teach I was also hired as the high school Varsity Cheerleading coach.  I coached the high school team for two years and am now back to coaching gymnastics at a different club gym.  I chose the sports leadership and coaching concentration to pursue my dream of being an athletic director.

I grew up in Sterling Heights, Michigan, and I have three younger sisters.  When we were younger we were very much alike.  We all played the same sports, wore the same clothes, watched the same shows, and listened to the same music.  Now that we are older we are still very much alike, but we have all chosen different career paths.  One is a nurse, one an engineer, and the other is going to school to be a baker.  My boyfriend and I have been dating since 2012. We went to the same high school and college, but it wasn't until after we graduated that we began dating.  We are different in many ways - as they say opposites attract - but one of our common interests is sports.  We love watching and attending sporting events together.

In my free time I love attending sporting events.  I have been to several of the Detroit professional sports games for each of the major sports in Michigan.  I love watching MSU basketball and football games.  I have traveled to the Big Ten Football Championships in Indianapolis in 2011 and the Rose Bowl in Pasadena in 2014.  I also went to the Men's Final Four Tournament in Indianapolis in 2015.  In addition to sports, another interest of mine is attending country music concerts.  I have attended the CMA Music Festival in Nashville almost every year since 2008.  I love to stay fit and active by working out, playing tennis, and running races.  I have ran the Warrior Dash, the Gladiator Run, the Turkey Trot, and three half marathons.
